This position is located in Cypress, CAPosition SummaryUnder the supervision of the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for all activity including examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting records to prepare financial statements, or audit and evaluate statements prepared by others. The Staff Accountant must be able to prioritize work to meet deadlines. Independent judgment must be exercised on a regular basis. Must demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills along with a working knowledge of personal computers.Responsibilities:Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.Report to management regarding the finances of establishment.Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.Reconciles cash account on monthly basis and clears outstanding balancesResponsible for timely completion of all balance sheet account analysis for review by the Controller.Prepares all daily, monthly and year-end financial reports both accurately and timely, including but not limited to regional and in-house key indicator report.Performs special projects, analysis and other duties of responsibilities which may be assigned by the Controller.Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions. Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner. Collaborates with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives. Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions. Responds to inquiries from the Director of Finance, Controller, and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like. Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit. Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department. Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
Qualifications:College degree, preferably in Accounting or FinanceMinimum 4 years’ experience in the Finance Department of an IPA, Group, Managed Care Company or Health PlanKnowledge of EZ-Cap information systems preferred
