Salary Range: $15.92 - $18.32 /hour
Under the supervision of the
Sunshine Market Store Supervisor this position assists with administrative
duties, merchandising, receiving, pricing, sales, customer service and
inventory control. This position provides clerical and administrative support
for the UCSD Bookstore Markets in its various areas/departments.
These duties include some
independent ability to coordinate and integrate information and administrative
processes throughout the UCSD Bookstore. Provide excellent customer service
that meets and exceeds customer expectations. Assist customers with merchandise
and service selections. Assist with procurement activities, special orders,
online and physical catering orders, invoice review and recharges.
Open and Close the Perk’s Café or
Sunshine Market as needed. Assist customers with selection and purchase of
specialty beverages and food products. Operate espresso machines, coffee
makers, similar food preparation equipment, and electronic cash register.
Assist in hiring, training, scheduling of temporary and student employees.
Provide work direction, monitor and
coach student staff to ensure that established operational procedures, quality
control guidelines and customer service standards are followed; ensure
completion of tasks and cleanliness of department.
~Work schedule: Mon-Fri. 6:00am –
2:30pm, Alternative work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
may be required.
• Demonstrated ability to
organize, coordinate and prioritize in a busy work environment.
• Prior experience in retail
• Prior experience in receiving
retail merchandise, including stock rotation, and merchandise control.
• Knowledge and ability to
operate electronic cash register and make change with speed and accuracy.
• Knowledge of basic math and
use of a calculator.
• Demonstrated knowledge of
inventory management and practices.
• Ability to use basic office
applications such as Microsoft Office.
• Excellent customer service
and interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse population.
• Ability to work effectively
with supervision. Ability to provide guidance and work direction to students.
• Ability to communicate effectively
with a variety of people, including customers, vendors, and staff.
• Ability to change work
direction or work projects sufficiently to accommodate the needs of the
• DOJ/FBI background checks and
clearances are required prior to hire.
