The Director of Education has responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of all education and quality of education for the facility.Essential Duties:1.Performs and documents formal and informal needs assessments, stating criteria utilized and outcome of the assessment.2.Meets regularly with leadership staff to discuss department and organization needs.3.Regularly reviews data which may reveal learning needs (e.g. shift report, QA report, documentation, hospital regulatory agency mandates).4.Assists staff in identifying their own learning needs via individual consultations or by group process.5.Designs educational programs which facilitate the attainment and maintenance of standards of care established within the organization.6.Collaborates with staff, peers, directors and managers in planning educational activities based on identified needs.7.Consistently applies concepts of learning, as evidenced by selection of appropriate teaching approach or approaches.8.Utilizes contemporary research findings, as appropriate, in planning educational offerings.9.Implements the educational plan to meet hospital objectives pertaining to patient and staff education.10.Coordinates the implementation of house-wide educational activities.11.Collaborates consistently with appropriate members of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate delivery of educational programs/activities.12.Applies concepts of adult learning in program implementation, as reflected in program design and evaluations.13.Consistently evaluates class participant learning, as evidenced by measurement of learner performance against measurement criteria used in classroom setting and application of learned concepts in clinical practice.14.Revises programs and approaches as indicated by measurement outcomes and program evaluations.15.With minimum supervision, serves as a consultant to directors and managers.16.Develops and contracts proposals for problem-solving to include: identification of problem, plan for intervention, specific responsibilities of each party, means of evaluation to be utilized.17.Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders inside and outside the organization.18.Organizes and maintains student rotations.19.Oversight for all functions related to new graduate residency program.20.Assures regulatory compliance in all aspects of essential duties.21.Manages departmental budget to targets.22.Other duties as assigned.
Education and ExperienceRequired: 1.Graduate of an accredited school of nursing2.Current California RN license3.Master’s in Nursing or EducationPreferred:1.Recent experience in an educator role2.Recent program management experience
