PER COUNTY RULES, THIS POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT AT STEP 1, $41,849.60. County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Comp Ord 1.3.5.
The County of San Diego is currently accepting job applications for Recreation Program Coordinator, to fill one immediate vacancy at the County’s Waterfront Park located in downtown San Diego. This park features areas for picnics, weddings, large civic events, and private rentals as well as theme gardens, a water play feature, and play areas for children.
If selected, you will be responsible for coordinating private and public events for 50 - 16,500 people in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Events range from small picnics and weddings to large scale festivals and concerts.The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following
Ability to create, implement and evaluate innovative recreation programs to meet the public needs Excellent communication skills to provide program information to members of the community, businesses, and County personnel and officials Strong organizational skills to coordinate several small and large-scale special events, simultaneously with various stakeholders Excellent interpersonal and networking skills to enhance program opportunities and partnerships.Minimum Qualifications:
Two (2) years of experience as a recreation program leader, teacher, counselor, park ranger, or closely related position in a recreational facility. Experience must have included leading and coordinating recreational programs and/or activities.
Note: Appropriate college-level education may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
NOTE: Employees in this class may be required to obtain a Wilderness First Aid certification and Class B driver’s license.
