Job Posting: The Patient Food Services Supervisor I carries out supervisory aspects of patient food services on one or more designated units under the guidance of senior leadership staff. Responsible for meeting the food and service expectations of patients and visitors by training, supervising and motivating the unit food service staff. Creates an environment or culture that enables the unit and hospital to fulfill its mission and meet or exceed its goals. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the cultural, age, developmental, and environmental safety issues of the patient population(s) served. Interacts effectively with inter- and/or intra-departmental medical and support personnel to meet patient care goals and provide timely response to requests. Contributes to successful fiscal management of galley operations.
Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma required. AA degree in nutrition or hospitality related field desirable.
Current certification as Certified Dietary Manager and/or Dietetic Technician, Registered preferred. Registry- eligible candidates may be considered if certification can be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.
Two (2) years of experience in healthcare food service operations and/or as a dietetic technician preferred or comparable experience.
Physical Demands (e.g., lifting, standing, and walking):
Must be able to distinguish color coded dating systems to assure proper food rotation. Must be able to lift and move cases of supplies and/or food product weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to prepare and present food attractively for customers and/or patients. Must be able to stand and walk distances over the greater portion of the assigned shift. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling. Must be able to see, speak and hear clearly.
