Job Posting: Summary of Essential Job Duties:
Functioning under the direction of the Associate Director of Healthy Habits, implement health education efforts to improve the health of communities served by the Healthy Habits program. The core responsibility of the Community Health Associate (CHA) is to effectively teach the Healthy Habits curriculum to students of partner schools. The Community Health Associate is also responsible for implementing the program evaluation plan and contribute to curriculum and materials development as needed. Additional job responsibilities include facilitating training sessions for teachers, implementing summer and after-school programs, provide resources and technical assistance to partner schools, and assist with other Healthy Habits programs as needed
As part of a strategic effort to combat childhood obesity, Cedars-Sinai is helping children and their families lead healthier lives through Healthy Habits. Healthy Habits provides education and technical assistance to support healthy eating and physical activity to children and families in under-served communities. Healthy Habits is comprised of a high energy, highly motivated and passionate team of educators dedicated to serving the community. Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in nutrition/public health/community health or health related field required.
Spanish fluency a plus.
Must possess computer literacy- working knowledge of Windows or comparable system, presentation development, email, browsers, spreadsheets, etc.
Current California driver’s license and car
A minimum of two years experience working in community health settings required.
Experience working with children required. Classroom experience a plus.
Experience in partnership building in diverse communities required.
Must have a passion for health education and for serving under-served communities
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and attention to detail, showing a high level of care and thoroughness in handling details of the job
Demonstrated ability to work independently, using sound judgement, and in a well organized manner
Demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues and work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve program goals
Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking)
Ability to lift packages up to 25 pounds Ability to walk throughout Medical Center’s campus and around community sites Frequent sitting, standing and walking Must have transportation to travel daily to community sites
