The USC Thornton School of Music invites applications for a Department Coordinator. This position supports and works closely with the chairs of the Strings and Classical Guitar Departments. The coordinator will organize and expedite the flow of work through the department and will act as a liaison between the chair and other individuals communicating confidential information, assignments, and requests. The individual in this position will also coordinate special department activities such as guest lectures, masterclasses, performances, studio showcases and internal competitions. and performances. Other specific duties include: screening and prioritizing incoming calls and emails; monitoring and follow up of pending items; maintaining departmental database; maintaining a departmental calendar; providing guidance and supervision to student workers; assisting with budget preparation and oversight, monitoring expenses; composing and producing correspondence; scheduling and coordinating meetings; making travel arrangements; communicating with marketing staff regarding promotional materials and events; researching and gathering data for reports; communicating and coordinating certain student activities with Music Student Affairs; and monitoring exams, juries and auditions.
