Storytelling/ Video Editor
The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Ca., is seeking an editor and creator who is skilled at video production to lead our storytelling team and work across the newsroom with journalists telling short or long stories. We are looking for candidates who are nimble and creative, who understand distributed platforms and can develop story forms appropriate for all formats. This editor is a newsroom coach, liaison for the Coachella Valley Storytellers Project and project manager for newsletters, audience initiatives and event coverage of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Stagecoach, Modernism Week and the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
Candidates should have a college degree and at least three years of professional journalism experience. Internships with significant reporting or digital production will be considered.
The Desert Sun has been recognized four of the past six years as the top newsroom of its size in California, and has taken home awards from CNPA, APME, Gannett, Online News Association, National Headliner Awards, Society of American Business Editors and Writers, Best of the West, Knight-Risser, Overseas Press Club, PPAGLA, Edward R. Murrow and the Emmys. The Desert Sun is two hours from Los Angeles, two hours from San Diego and 30 minutes from Joshua Tree National Park.
