SALARY – $12.13 – $14.74 hourly (No Benefits)
Under the direction of the Community Service Department, supervises the operation of Youth and Adult sports and Recreation Programs.
Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older. Experience required in supervising youth camps, planning, organizing and conducting Recreation and Youth sport programs. Ability to stand for long periods of time and work outdoors in the sun. Basic computer skills and ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.
|Examples of Duties Performed:|
|Coordinates, plans and schedules Youth Sports Leagues and Summer Recreation Programs. Supervises Recreation Leaders, youth sports volunteers, officials and scorekeepers; maintains a good line of communication with subordinates and supervisors. Provides for set up, clean up and supervision of facilities; makes sure that the facility and equipment are in safe condition and rectifies hazards when possible and reports any not immediately rectifiable; maintains records and reports; prepares flyers, schedules, and press releases; and performs other duties as assigned. Maintains good public relations with the general public, assumes the duties of recreation leader, youth sports volunteers, officials and scorekeepers; opens and closes Recreation, and Youth and Sports facility.|
Essential Job Functions: Oversees and officiates youth special events requiring vision acute enough to be able to discern rapid movements within crowds of people participating in sports activities, and hearing ability acute enough to understand dialogue or instructions. Provides instruction and works directly with the public, requiring clear oral communication. Becomes physically involved in Youth special events and activities requiring unassisted ambulatory activity including bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, walking on uneven surfaces, running, jumping, climbing, and full upper body movement. Work is performed outdoors and indoors, in all types of weather.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE - Possession of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license and current CPR/First Aid certification.
