The Farm Manager is responsible for the management and direction of all production or pullet operations at the farm. The purpose of this role is to plan, direct, and oversee all production business concerns, including safety, animal husbandry, personnel management, budget management, cost control and operating efficiencies. This person will be a hands-on manager of day-to-day and long-term production work, activities, and project work.
Continuously lead Safety program and initiatives for the Layer or Pullet Operation.
Support other safety matters throughout the facility and Company.
Ensure that all employees are working safely.
Manage training and change implementation in a timely manner.
Ensure proper execution of all Production SOPs.
Effectively manage all facility expenditures including operating budget and capital investments related to Production and the Facility.
Correspond with Production Manager on matters of maintenance, repairs and supplies to ensure that the operation remains both technically sound and fiscally efficient.
Manage all expense and budget aspects for the production side of the facility.
Focus on reducing and controlling labor costs related to the facility.
Responsible for the management of the effective scheduling of production
employees driving towards minimizing costs and maximizing labor efficiencies
Manage performance, and individual development and training plans for hourly employees. Work within labor budgets and salary ranges to reward and compensate employees based on performance and skills.
Manage the action and succession planning to ensure a continuous flow of talent exists for key Production positions.
Oversee areas of poultry husbandry, flock management, and animal welfare.
Oversee management and conducting of regular audits of production facilities
independent of and in conjunction with Production Manager. Ensure that
appropriate actions are taken based on the results of the audit.
Oversee environmental and animal sampling for disease identification and
prevention. Coordinate related activities with Production Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned or appropriate.
Egg Industry highly preferred with 5+ years plus related Management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Solid experience with logistics, accounting, inventory control systems and cutoffs.
Proficient in PC applications such as, Email, Word, and Excel
Thrives in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment
Familiar with Outbound/Inbound freight --
Must have TL, LTL experience
Must be able to work weekends as required
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be detail oriented and possess excellent organizational skills
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to establish and achieve goals and objectives and to give direction,
delegate assignments, and make independent decisions.
Ability to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction.
