Pacifica Hospital of the Valley is an Acute Care Hospital in the SFV and currently has an available position for Materials Management Assistant. The Materials Management Assistant provides accurate service for receipt, inventory, storage and distribution of hospital materials.
Receives all materials and supplies during normal working hours, per receiving procedure. Counts the quantity of incoming supplies. Checks purchase order against packing slip and verifies both quantities against material received. Notes any discrepancies on both the purchase order and packing slip. Routinely delivers supplies/equipment to requesting departments according to Purchase Order instructions. Reports all questionable orders to Director Materials Management or Buyer. Maintains an accurate purchase order file for all purchases, both open and closed. Performs all functions related to shipping of material, making sure all material is properly labeled and paperwork is properly prepared. Accurately processes all necessary paperwork/documentation, so that payments can be authorized. Provides inventory assistance, as directed. Arranges stock on shelves according to stock number and warehouse location, keeping inventory control up-to-date on all changes to the computer printout. Rotates old stock for issue first. Consistently ensures that oldest items are in position to be used first, using stock-rotation of “first-in, first-out system. Protects inventories against damage, deterioration and theft. Demonstrates responsibility for keys and lock-up of storeroom, and control of traffic within the storeroom. Routinely fills stock-requisitions on a timely basis, follows through on filling back-orders as soon as supplies are delivered to Hospital. Carefully inspects material handling equipment for damages, and informs Director immediately. Routinely orders non-stock requisitions on a timely basis and informs departments of back-orders. Maintains Inventory Report for all departments.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Two years’ experience as a stockroom or warehouse worker. Knowledge of medical/surgical supplies and equipment preferred. On-the-job training provided.
Must be able to meet the demands of an active position with the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Ability to maintain emotional stability and to understand how to effectively cope with stress during crisis situations.
Ability to exhibit effective written and verbal communication skills.
