HEAVY TRUCK DRIVER
The City of Burbank, a thriving community in southern California’s world-class media center, is a great place to live and an even better place to work. We are currently seeking an experienced person to drive heavy-duty diesel and gas powered trucks and/or truck-trailer combinations; to operate mechanical attachments; operate equipment; and perform related work as required.
You will drive heavy trucks hauling asphalt concrete to paving crews; haul broken concrete, asphalt, and dirt from under crane; load and unload equipment on low bed trailer; operate roller, skip loader, winches, hoists, and other auxiliary mechanical equipment; assist in pick and shovel and jack hammer work; operate mechanical attachments such as a loader used to pick up leaves; make minor repairs and adjustments on mechanical equipment such as draining air in brake systems; and occasionally assist crew supervisor as directed.
Requirements include one year of experience in the operation of heavy trucks, and a valid California Class “A” driver’s license or equivalent at time of appointment.
Additional requirements include knowledge of methods of loading and securing materials; traffic regulations and the Motor Vehicle Code; and operation of winches, hoists, and other auxiliary mechanical equipment. Skill in the operation of heavy duty trucks, truck-trailers, tractors, semi-trailers, and construction and maintenance equipment; ability to operate heavy trucks and assist in pick and shovel and jack hammer work; operate mechanized equipment safely; learn general layout of the City and the proper streets to use for heavy equipment; and follow oral and written directions and to work harmoniously with supervisors and fellow employees is also needed.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Employees in this classification, who are required by applicable laws and regulations to have respiratory protection, shall comply with the American National Standards Institute’s requirements on Practices for Respiratory Protection.
We offer a starting salary of $3,399 - $4,685 per month ($19.61 - $27.03 per hour) plus superb benefits including City-contributed retirement plan, cafeteria-style health benefits, and tuition reimbursement.
