Aquatics Coordinator
The City of Fruita is looking for an Aquatics Coordinator to join our team at the Fruita Community Center. The position will schedule, program, and coordinate swimming lessons, Water Aerobics and other aquatics programs within the department. This position is generally scheduled 20-25 hours per week, Tuesday & Thursday Evenings, and Saturday Mornings. This position will provide exemplary service to the employees and citizens of the City of Fruita.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Attend all sessions and days of swimming lessons; plan, coordinate, & schedule swimming lessons, water aerobics, special events, and aquatics programs.
- Assist Swim Coaches and Aquatics Supervisor with implementation of Youth Swim Team, Youth Swim Conditioning, and Masters Swim programs.
- Register participants as needed.
- Coordinate WSI's and schedules.
- Prepare and submit program reports to the Aquatics Supervisor.
- Assist WSI's with Course.
- Records and maintaining certifications; plan and implement WSI in-services in conjunction with the Aquatics Supervisor.
- Propose and justify changes of programming to the Aquatics Supervisor as needed.
- Assist pool manager/head lifeguard on duty with the safety of swimming pool(s).
- Maintain swimming lesson report cards and assist WSI's.
- Coordinate make-up lessons when needed; coordinate, schedule, and assign instructors for private swimming lessons.
- Respond to e-mails, calls, and customer concerns in a prompt and professional manner.
- Act as Pool Manager/Head guard when needed; and complete other duties and tasks as assigned by the Aquatics Supervisor.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree from and accredited college or university in Recreation Administration or related field preferred.
Applicants must have the following certifications or have the ability to be certified within 6 months of hire date: American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid, Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor (or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire).
Applicants must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation as this position will work with youth and other vulnerable populations.
Hourly rate is $14.64.
