The City of Spartanburg, SC seeks an experienced Fire Marshal to manage the daily operations of the Spartanburg Fire Department's Fire Prevention Office.
The Fire Marshal is an exempt, Division Chief level position appointed by the Fire Chief. The selected person will manage areas of responsibility to include: fire prevention, fire inspections, fire investigations, commercial property maintenance, Center for Fire Accreditation International Accreditation Manger, and public information officer. The position reports directly to the Fire Chief and directly supervises two deputy fire marshals.
The selected candidate must also possess NFPA Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations, Medical First Responder, and a valid SC driver's license. The candidate must be a Class III SC law enforcement officer, or be capable of attending the training at the SC Criminal Justice Academy within one year of appointment. The candidate must also attend the Center for Fire Accreditation International Accreditation Manger training in preparation for becoming the department's accreditation manager.
Pay will be based upon experience and qualifications. The position is in Grade 24 with a pay band of $54,805-$82,128.
