Fitness Director
Old Town Hot Springs in Steamboat Springs, CO is hiring for the position of Fitness Director. The Fitness Director is responsible for the operations of the Fitness Center; including personal training, group exercise instruction, weight room management, and all related fitness programming.
Required experience includes: 3-5 years of management experience in the fitness industry. Old Town Hot Springs Steamboat Springs area preferred.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of management experience in the fitness industry.
- 3-5 years of experience hiring, managing, and developing employees.
- Strong and effective computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess excellent inter-personal and motivational skills to maintain an open and well-structured relationship between Fitness Center Staff, Management Team, Executive Director and Board of Directors of OTHS.
Essential Job Functions:
Personal Training
- Hire, train, certify, schedule, monitor, and evaluate trainers.
- Maintain employee files and trainer payments.
- Assures that staff is current on all necessary certifications and education.
- Order and monitor use of staff uniforms.
Group Exercise Instruction
- Design, schedule, staff and evaluate exercise classes to ensure a well-balanced, accessible and profitable schedule.
- Instruct classes when necessary.
- Implement the youth and adult Triathlon Clubs.
- Hire, train, certify, schedule, monitor, and evaluate instructors.
- Maintain employee files.
- Monitor employee hours before each pay day.
- Assures that staff is current on all necessary certifications and education.
- Order and monitor use of staff uniforms.
Weight Room
- Monitor and evaluate equipment, policies and organization.
- Provide and coordinate weight room orientations for members.
Maintenance & Safety
- Works with the Facility Director on issues pertaining to maintenance, repairs, safety and cleaning of the Fitness Center.
Budgeting Responsibilities
- Assures that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget, and performs cost control activities.
- Monthly monitoring of payroll and assigned budget expense categories.
- Annual participation in facility budgeting process as it pertains to the Fitness Center.
Other Responsibilities:
- Maintains a professional image and manner consistent with the OTHS mission and goals.
- Excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff, members and guests.
- Provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long range plans and gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports and recommendations as it pertains to the fitness department.
- Assist with special events, parties, fundraisers as needed.
- Attend bi-weekly managers’ meetings.
