Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Coordinator
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Responsible for being a public relations agent with insurance companies, attorneys and patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinates legal conferences, independent medical examinations, narrative reports, etc.
2. Completes MVA patient intake sheets.
3. Verifies liability has been accepted by 3rd party or Med Pay carrier.
4. Monitors accounts to ensure accurate and precise reimbursement.
5. Answers patient questions, inquiries, and concerns regarding their accounts.
6. Monitor and follows up on all MVA related Accounts Receivable.
7. Liens Prepares liens Amends liens Obtains notarization and files liens
8. Posts all actions and maintains permanent record of patient accounts.
9. Assists with answering telephone, screening calls, and taking messages.
10. Attends meetings as required.
11. Performs other job duties as requested not necessarily related to the job position. The job holder must demonstrate competencies applicable to the job position.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED. Associate degree in business preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years in related field.
KNOWLEDGE:
1. 1-2 years of MVA billing experience.
2. Medical billing experience.
3. Knowledge of insurance industry and basic billing procedures.
4. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
5. Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA guidelines.
SKILLS:
1. Skilled in using computer programs and applications.
2. Skilled in typing a minimum of 50 wpm.
ABILITIES:
1. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction.
2. Ability to sort and file materials correctly.
3. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Work may require hand dexterity for office machine operation, stooping and bending to files and supplies, mobility to complete errands or deliveries, or sitting for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
