Virginia Commonwealth University University Counseling Services Division of Student Affairs Position Announcement Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has a position open for a Sexual, Intimate Partner Violence, and Stalking Advocate to join the staff of University Counseling Services in the Division of Student Affairs. General responsibilities include providing crisis intervention, safety planning, providing education/outreach to university community, serving on various university committees, case management services, develops monthly reports for supervisor, assistance survivors with obtaining accommodations for course work, along with supporting the student through university proceeding the survivor might go through. The positions may require working some evening hours. This a one year position with the strong possibility of becoming permanent position. Required
Qualifications: Master's degree in Social Work or related field. Experience working as an advocate for survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence and stalking or related experience. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, social justice and cultural competence and the ability to work in a multicultural environment. Ability to critically review health-related professional literature relevant to college students and assess its applicability and utility for effectiveness on our campus. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. Demonstrated skills in a variety of educational methods including presentations, trainings, small group facilitation and individual sessions.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage time and prioritize tasks Ability to maintain accurate, confidential records Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, Strong interpersonal skills Experience working with diverse populations VCU is a public university of 30,000 students located on two campuses in the capital city of Richmond, VA. The position is open until filled and initial application review will begin June 25, 2018. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
